Satay Celup or "steamboat satay" can only be found in Melaka, are the assortment of raw and semi-cooked seafood, meat and vegetables on skewers that are dunked into a boiling pot of water and dipped with a similar satay sauce, yet has different indegredients added to.
Rice cooked with chicken stock and shaped into balls is a unique Melakan specialty. It is accompanied by roasted or steamed chicken, soup and a mixture of chilli and ginger paste.
Melaka is the home of 'asam pedas', a dish consisting of fish and vegetables cooked in tamarind juice (assam), tomatoes, pineapples, starfruits and pickled mustard leaves.
A scrumptious dessert of green bean noodles flavoured with pandan juice (screwpine leaves) and served with shaved ice, thick palm sugar syrup and 'santan' (coconut milk). It's one of Melaka's best loved desserts, what more on a hot day.
